this is uruma store. it takes like 10 minutes to walk from my grandma's house, and my brother and i used to come here every day to buy sherbet bottles for 10yen, dried plum sweets, whistle lollies, and cheap plastic toys. this store is what you would call a typical "dagashi-ya" and its interior that takes you back to the showa period is some kind of charm. dimly lit, every shelf (that's not full of candy) is packed with relics of past days - old cds, posters of past boybands, figurines of ultraman probably from the 50s and 60s, and other little trinkets. the mix between japanese and american trinkets that you find in okinawa is especially fascinating, i think. there was a back room full of more stuff from the showa period, it looked like, but of course it was staff only. you can see a huge icecream through the door, and from what i saw, seems like that's where all the good stuff is kept!!!
